You must be familiar with this popular remark, “He understood the assignment.”
As simple as that statement sounds, it has heavy implications for how you’re valued and rewarded in life. As a matter of fact, every great leader in every organization is always busy looking for someone who understands the assignment. And each time they find one person who does, they begin to plan how to deploy the person the more.
It’s the same thing with customers/clients. When they find someone who always understands the assignment and doesn’t make them talk and explain too much or have too many things to correct, they see someone they want to stick to for the rest of their lives.
Finally, it’s the same thing with God and the systems He has set in motion to govern the affairs of life. When a human begins to show a deep sense of understanding of why he or she exists and begins to live out the essence of it, life begins to conspire to set such a person up for increasing relevance and reward.
To understand the assignment is to understand the desired end goal of a thing in terms of its overall objective, scope, nuances, and boundaries. Understanding the assignment is about seeing the assignment with the eyes of the person who gave it. This is what it means for someone to understand the assignment.
The question I’m asking you this morning is simple. Do you understand the assignment? Or you’re still busy whiling away the time on chores and tasks? The moment you start living for your assignment wherever you find yourself, that’s the day something changes in the way life responds to you. Take note of this.
God is a business tycoon. He gives us the talents and gifts for us to do business with them till He returns. Every good and every perfect gift is from above and comes from the Father of Lights, with whom there is no variation nor shadow of turning.
Of course, He doesn’t give these things without an expectation of returns. Remember the parable of the talents? So we all will give accounts of how we have dispensed those things we were given. And only those who understand their assignment will eventually get a reward for a job well done and a life well lived.
